Joëlle Bouvier’s choreography explores one of the great works of Richard Wagner. The music weaves a tale made popular during the 12th century through French medieval poetry, inspired by Celtic legend - a tragic story of the adulterous love between the Cornish knight Tristan and the Irish princess Isolde. The choreographer wants the audiences to share the moments of ecstasy where hatred and extreme passion go side by side. The suffering and the antagonism seem to find their resolution in night, in death. It is passion that reigns, and the music, “the air that never dies” reunites the two lovers. No other choreographer has dared to deal with this theme of “languish and die, but not die of languishing”.

The Geneva Ballet with its 22 classically trained dancers is all set for a dramatic portrayal of this sublimation of romanticism. With international tours to the USA, Australia, South America, all over Europe, South Africa, and now Asia, the Geneva Ballet shares its passion for dance with the audiences. Dancing Isolde is principal dancer Sarawanee Tanatanit, the Thai dancer who won Prize of the 2001 Prix de Lausanne, miss Tanatanit  was offered an apprentice scholarship at American Ballet Theatre studio Company in New York City.  The following year, she was accepted into the main ABT Company where she spent 7 years as a professional ballet dancer.
