Upon the release of the latest novel “Tout, tout de suite” in Thai version, awarded “Prix Interallié” in 2011, Morgan Sportès, well-known writer in the literature field, will join the second Debates on Stage at Alliance Française Bangkok on Friday May 30. An exceptional evening that will celebrate the literature.

For this roundtable on the subject: “THE REALITY IS MORE FASCINATING THAN THE FICTION?”, we will have the pleasure of welcoming Morgan Sportès, Jean Marcel writer, Suradech Chotiudompant professor and literature critic, Olivier Jeandel owner of Carnets d’Asie French bookstore and Kanika Chansang translator of Morgan Sportès’ works.

This roundtable focus on news stories and autofiction in French and Thai contemporary literatures, role and function of the literature today in France and Thailand, translation of French novels in Thailand, especially Morgan Sportès’ novels: “Tout, tout de suite” and “Pour la plus grande gloire de Dieu”, a remarkable historical epic that traces the first relationship between France and Thailand. On this special occasion, Morgan Sportès will give a signing session at “Carnets d’Asie”.

The roundtable and debate will be simultaneously translated in French and Thai.

This event is organized in cooperation with the Cultural and Cooperation Section of the Embassy of France. Several times a year, leading figures will be invited to speak and then engage in a public debate with the audience, the events focusing on three major themes: “Contemporary Challenges”, “Arts and Literature” and “History: Which Histories?.”
