Summer 1988: As promising young athletes in the GDR, the twins Isa and Doreen are allowed to attend a training camp at Lake Balaton in Hungary – for the sisters from a little village in Saxony it is the first time away from home. On the way to the Pioniers camp they meet Arne and Nico from Hamburg. The twins and the young men get to know each other more and more, but what begins as a holiday romance develops for Doreen and Arne into a serious love affair. Quickly the two lovers can’t imagine living without the other anymore. The relationship between the inseparable siblings is severely tested when Doreen is willing to risk everything for Arne and plans the girls escape to West Germany. A year later, the Berlin Wall falls, making the offense of “illegal emigration” obsolete. This is a teenage love story, which in spite of its political background and knowing what we know today, remains light-hearted and cheerful.
