Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra World Tour 2014
College of Music, Mahidol University -
Mahidol University is proud to present the Debut Concert of Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in the Kingdom of Thailand on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at our newly finished magnificent 2,000-seat Prince Mahidol Hall. As a part of Tokyo Philharmonic’s 100th anniversary World Tour 2014, first ever of the orchestra, we are delighted to be one of the six countries covering three continents.
The Tokyo Philharmonic is the oldest and largest orchestra in Japan. The debut concert in Thailand is under the baton of dynamic and powerful Maestro Eiji Oue with the virtuosic violin soloist Kyoko Takezawa performing the best-loved Tchaikovsky concerto. Program also includes Bugaku by Toshiro Mayazumi. Bugaku is inspired from the ancient Japanese Imperial dance music and is considered one of Mayazumi’s most melodramatic works.
