All Weekend

Bangkok has some great weekend-long events coming up. The 14th Annual King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament at Anantara Riverside again aims to raise funds for animal and education related charities. Over at Thai Wake Park, Kolour In The Park returns with its biggest concert yet, including multi-international lineup of artists and musicians. This event is a MUST for all lovers of outdoor festivals and quality electronic music! An International Innovative Craft Fair at BITEC is also gaining attention in the news, and this weekend is also your last chance to experience German Film Week 2016 at Siam Paragon.

This Friday is also the start of a number of fairs, inclucing ‘Biff & Bill 2016’, showcasing outstanding fashion and high quality leather products from ASEAN. For evening activities, try a concert by TWO of Australia’s hottest indie bands, ‘Last Dinosaurs’ and ‘Panama’ at Live RCA, or check out the hidden gem Friese-Greene Club for the 1975 flick “Salo” (Friday nights this month feature “controversy” themed films).

Saturday in the Ari neighborhood, Numthong Gallery is hosting a new exhibition called ‘Contour’ by Angkrit Ajchariyasophon and Tawatchai Pattanaporn featuring abstract paintings and contemporary photos. If you’re around Thonglor-Ekamai and looking for some drinks and cool music, we recommend heading over to ‘Beam,’ Thonglor’s hottest new club, for its quality house music and light show (and vibrating dance floor!). Other recommendations include laser tag at the new sci-fi style laser shooting simulation game in Holiday Inn (near Sukhumvit Soi 22) and a vinyl night at Studio Lam concentrating on funk, soul, and jazz collections, so bring your lady!

In Soi NaNa this Sunday (the one near Hua Lamphong), 15 shops and galleries are showcasing their wares and serving up some great international grub. For art, we also recommend the Thai exhibition, ‘Perrier the Poster’ at Bangkok CityCity Gallery, and the Making of Golden Teardrop at Jim Thompson Art Center will also be showcasing the creations of Thai artist Arin Rungjang. Last, if you have just bought a condo or your house is in need of some new flavors, check out the ‘Thailand International Furniture Fair 2016’ at Impact.
