PHOTOGRAPHY AND THE ART OF ILLUSION

A screening and discussion by four Thai Photographers

Manit Sriwanichpoom
Piyatat Hemmatat
Withit Chanthamarit
Peera Vorapreechapanich

In this screening, we will be looking at one of the hardest challenges a photographer can have in visual communication, The ability to communicate a message with out directly showing it. Through the intelligence of the photographer and his or her knowledge of the subject, the photographer has the ability to focus on nuances of an issue or a theme trying to convey a particular message. Whether it is through contemporary photography or other forms of style, the photographer has the difficult challenge of finding the symbolic image, the Trojan horse that carries inside it the underlying message.

What are the reasons for this type of photography and what are the motivations and intentions behind this?

To find out more, please join us at Cho Why on Thursday 21st May 8.00pm.
