A design exhibition by
POMME CHAN
10 December 2016 - 12 Febuary 2017
Opening party on Saturday 10 December, 5 PM onwards
This exhibition is to portray the story of Chinese zodiac (12 sacred animals assigned to each year in a repeating twelve-year cycle) in form of drawings by representing particular attributes of each animal sign which relate to positive meaning and prosperity through the artist’s spectacular hand-drawn skill.
The exhibition is divided into four parts.
- The first part includes 12 large-scale drawings on canvas highlighting vivid colors and surrounding elements which are auspicious plants and flowers.
- The second part consists of drawings on papers in size of
42x60 cm. mainly painted with gold and red colors that signify auspiciousness. Some details have been curtailed to make the drawings look more contemporary.
- The third part, the artist has collaborated with an aspiring interior designer from PIA, Pruitsatorn Sakulthai, to create a spirit house made of clear acrylic sheets and imprinted with religious chant. There are also LED lights hidden inside the shrine.
- Lastly, the fourth part shows the artist’s illustrations on ceramic merchandise. With great support from Stories Ceramics, the illustrations are printed on 10 inch porcelain plates in red and genuine gold to symbolize luck and prosperity.
