Observing and learning things around is important for us who live in contemporary society. It will lead us to understand more about our current situation. The diversity that come along with the complexity of living in contemporary world shows us that things cannot be truly separated. Everything naturally continues with the influence on the other thing, they are always connected in some way. 

‘Art’ portrayed as parallel world which connect, combine and offer the images of Reality. From the past, Art is the tool for communication and expression. It explained what happened and what would be happened during those certain periods of time. Many things were expressed through Art, whether it is History, Economy, Politic, Social Context, Ideology, Science Progress, Violence, etc. Art often interprets the issues in the way that encourage people to realize, connect, question, including understand something more profoundly, with the various language of Art. 

"Surrounding" presents issues that related to consciousness, through 8 young artists as the representatives of the new generation who contemplate about contemporary society. With various ideas and perspectives, every piece of art was created from different artistic process and medium. From Research, exploring the possibilities, working with others, combine materials together into the art, they contribute the works which seem to be personal. Thus, their works somehow relate to many people in Thai society. Since we share this same moment and history, we can perceive and relate some issues with the same understanding, Such as the issue of LGBTQ, childhood memories, career, religious influence in society, economic, political, etc. Each work interestingly illustrates small points which will gradually erode some issues to their cores. 

The diversity, the mixture of assortment of many things in contemporary society that we all encounter, brings the closer border of the contemporary art and everyday life. This exhibition represents one small corner of the contemporary world with the clear connection between the reality and the Art. The complication is explained through the eyes of a new generation. This is challenging both in the way of Art expression, and the way they perceive and present the society they live in.
