Abbot Restaurant & Bar and Soy Sauce Factory Art Space invite you to observe a photographic diary of Jesper Haynes’ life in New York’s downtown from the early 1980’s until the late 1990’s, in their first ever collaboration.

The exhibition has already been very well received by Soy Sauce Factory devotees. Now, for Sukhumvit residents who couldn’t travel to the avant-garde gallery’s show space in Charoenkrung and anyone else who missed it the first time round, the exhibition moves to its new location at Abbot.

Delicious nibbles and special priced drinks will be available, as we invite you to discover a facet of New York many are not fortunate enough to experience.

About the exhibition:

Starting in the early 1980’s, Jesper Haynes had a goal to shoot one roll of black and white film every day. After 20 years, he had a collection of thousands of rolls of film and for each roll a contact sheet was created. These contact sheets represented his photographic life, a kind of diary. For this exhibition, Jesper has tried to recreate the feeling of being in that darkroom looking over contact sheets.
By scanning selected contact sheets, selecting certain images and then creating these three blown up contact sheets, a photographic diary of his life in New York’s downtown from the early 1980’s until the late 1990’s has been realized.
According to the photographer, “We were in love with the city and with the feeling that anything is possible and anything goes. This is my love story and tribute to that time and to New York City.”
