Hope on the Ruins by Aphiphol Techamangkhalano

Hope on the Ruins devoid of life in the darkness. Repelling the gloom, is a traditional shrine that glimmers like a beacon and casts its pale glow over rooftops. Mr. Aphiphol uses a spare palette to create the shadows and light in this atmospheric painting. The contrasting white and black reflect his belief that virtue and morality will triumph over materialism. To the artist, modernisation and technology have brought the ills of materialism to the city, casting a shadow over it and driving its inhabitants away. The shrine shimmering from within the darkness symbolises his belief in society’s virtue and its ability to withstand the test of time.
