This December at Neilson Hays Library, Bangkok-based French artist Landry Dunand presents two different collections of his photography and mixed media art: "Gilded Blue" in the garden gallery café and "Silver Fermentation" in the rotunda gallery.

Come meet Landry at the exhibition opening on Dec. 1. He will speak about his work and is happy to answer any questions.

"Gilded Blue" is a collection of cyanotypes, made using a mid-18th century photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. An image is produced by placing an object or a negative directly onto coated paper, allowing bright sunlight to create a silhouette image.

"Silver Fermentation" is a series of silver gelatin prints, created anddeveloped in Landry's home darkroom. All images are silver gelatin prints from 35mm film.

Landry is a French artist and graphic designer, based in Asia since 2004. He takes photos using a 20-kg camera obscura that he bought while living in Afghanistan, and also shoots in film and digital. He has lately turned to light sensitive cyanotypes, or photographic blueprints, and experiments in other hands-on techniques in his jungle darkroom.

Landry has shown his work at RMA Institute and WTF Gallery in Bangkok, and at events organized by the conservation group Big Trees, including a show at Wat Bang Nam Phung Nok in a riverine island known as "the lungs of Bangkok."
