Bangkok, Thailand - The Space Bangkok presents a new experimental performance by Jacopo Gianninoto {music}, S.P. Somtow {text} and Voraprada Voratananchai {visual}, on Sunday, February 23 at 7:45pm.

CHIAROSCURO is a project about Caravaggio's art and life, the interdependence of light and darkness and the nature of human beings. Born from the collaboration between internationally recognized musicians and artists Jacopo Gianninoto and Somtow Sucharitkul, the performance is an interaction between ancient and contemporary elements. The music by Jacopo Gianninoto is a mix of his own compositions, ancient music taken from the manuscripts of J.H. Kapsberger and A. Piccinini and some baroque improvisations played on instruments such as Lute and Baroque guitar and integrated by the beautiful newly written lyrics/poetry by the internationally acclaimed writer and musician Somtow Sucharitkul (S.P. Somtow) in what the authors define a "Recitar senza cantare" style. The visual element consists of a background projection of Caravaggio's original paintings and some original works by emerging artist Voraprada Voratananchai. The performance is a contemporary work inspired by a now almost "mythological" figure such as that of Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio.
